Spring 2010 Repairs

  • dissassemble rear-end due to clutch slippage
  • found leaky wheel cylinders, muddied everything up, must replace
  • 742 case, 10 spline yoke with 7290 u-joint, Dana Power Lok Sure grip, 4.30 gears
  • axle bearings likely replaced in '02 at dealership, new Green bearing non-adjust type set

Disassembly

  • clutches completely gone!

Re-assembly

  • New parts : 3.91 Yukon ring & Pinion, diff kit, Moroso yoke girdles
  • Drill out & polish OEM yoke


Calculations

Testing fitting

  • Measuring original setup to test calculations
  • Re-installing original ring & pinion settup

Final Re-Assembly

  • Installed yukon 3.90 ring, new clutch pack, new bearings & seals
  • Yukon pinion turned out to be defective, returned it

Final Re-Assembly, part2

  • Exchanged for a richmond set, continued installation
  • Wear pattern very good:
    • Pinion height spec is 2.762", my height came to 2.766". Ie 0.004" shorter.
    • Pinion preload spec is 10-20inch/lb, mine came to be ~18"



Timing Chain replacement

  • Excessive slop in my timing chain, must be replaced
  • Why the fuck is my cam off by 180 degrees!?!?!?
